A look back at the 45th edition of the Young Bar of Montreal's Telephone Legal Clinic
Montreal, October 23, 2025 - The Young Bar Association of Montreal (JBM) celebrates the 45th edition of its Telephone Legal Clinic, which took place on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19. Over the course of the weekend, 3,395 calls were received from Quebecers. Our volunteer lawyers answered a wide range of questions on immigration, inheritance, housing and family law. This initiative enabled the public to obtain free, reliable answers to their legal questions.

Throughout this 45th edition of the clinic, nearly 60 lawyers were mobilized to offer their expertise to the public. The Clinique juridique téléphonique remains one of the JBM's flagship initiatives in terms of accessibility to justice, and its success would not have been possible without the exceptional commitment of its volunteers.
The JBM would like to express its deepest gratitude to all the volunteers who gave so generously of their time and expertise over the weekend. Special thanks to the JBM Pro Bono Committee for their contribution to this event.
The JBM would also like to acknowledge the important support of its long-standing partner, the Barreau du Québec, and its partners, the Centre d'accès à l'information juridique (CAIJ), Norton Rose Fulbright and Vidéotron Affaires. We would also like to acknowledge the participation of our collaborators, the Jeune Barreau de Québec (JBQ) and the Canadian Association of Paralegals (CAP), whose collaboration was essential to the production of this edition.
"This 45th edition of the Telephone Legal Clinic is a perfect illustration of the mission of the Young Bar of Montreal: to make justice more accessible and to support people in their concrete legal needs. We are proud to mobilize our young volunteer lawyers and notaries to offer everyone essential support, in a simple, free and caring setting. "
Me Andrée-Anne Dion, JBM President
About JBM
Founded in 1898, the JBM brings together lawyers practicing in Montreal for ten years or less, with nearly 6,000 members. This makes it one of the largest associations of young lawyers in the world, in terms of numbers for a single city. Its mission is twofold. On the one hand, it defends and promotes the interests of its members. On the other, it provides pro bono legal advice and information to various segments of the population, and organizes charitable activities. Overall, it aims to improve access to justice and contribute to the collective well-being. As such, in August 2021, the JBM was awarded the Lieutenant-Governor's Medal for Exceptional Merit, "in recognition of the remarkable dynamism demonstrated by its members in the ongoing pursuit of collective well-being".
