Social and Sporting Events
The objective of this committee is to offer social and physical activities to entertain members of the YBAM in a relaxed atmosphere, as well as competitive sporting events and the renowned cocktail with the judiciary.
The main objective of this committee is to encourage YBAM members to get together outside of their professional environments in a casual setting.
On October 3, 2009, the third edition of the YBAM Flag Football Tournament was held at Collège de Maisonneuve. The teams entered in the tournament played several games under a grey, rainy sky before the sun appeared just in time for the elimination rounds. The Loranger Marcoux team, which was trying to hold onto its champion title, was defeated by the Legault Joly Thiffault team, which caused surprise by reaching the finals. The Legault Joly Thiffault team then faced the Legally Blondes team, which took the tournament after a winning game.
The annual YBAM cosom hockey tournament was held on April 10, beating registration records with 9 teams representing various law firms and groups of athletic lawyers. A variety of refreshments including Mikes subs were served.
The winner of the 2009 edition of this tournament, McCarthy Tétrault, was unable to retain its title. Rather, the Morency team triumphed after a final series that went to seven games against the Papineau & Associés team.
Morency won gift certificates for Mikes Restaurant at La Place Versailles and were able to celebrate their championship over champagne.
What could be better than a day of hockey … that continues into the evening!!!
Many participants got together on the terrasse of Abreuvoir, Carlsberg in hand, to watch the Montreal Canadiens' final game of the regular season – a decisive game that led them to the playoffs … and to wreak havoc on the Caps and the Pens.
The YBAM would like to thank all participants, volunteer referees, and sponsors.
We would also like to thank the members of the golf tournament committee and all participants.

Cocktail with the Judiciary
Please note that the 2010 edition of the cocktail with the judiciary was held on October 20 2010, at the Court of Appeal.
The main objective of this event is to allow young lawyers and members of the judiciary to discuss their practice in an informal manner. Over sixty members of the YBAM and about fifty judges got together at the Court of Appeal for the 2009 edition, presided by the Honourable J. J. Michel Robert, Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal of Quebec. Discussions began over a background of jazz music after a speech by the First President of the Court of Appeal of Versailles, Mr. Alain Nuée. The young lawyers and members of the judiciary appreciated the opportunity to discuss their respective practices.

It's not always easy to reconcile work and physical activity! Too often, the start of one's career leads to a decrease in the amount of time spent doing physical activities. Wanting to help its members stay in shape, the Social and Physical Activities Committee of the YBAM (the “SPAC”) has the mandate of providing opportunities to burn calories while having fun. The SPAC organized various physical activities in 2009, including the Flag Football Tournament.

2. Golf Tournament in collaboration with the Bar of Montreal: July 8 at Le Diamant Golf Club in Mirabel
On July 8, Montreal lawyers headed to Mirabel for the annual Bar of Montreal and YBAM golf tournament. The tournament was held on the course of Le Diamant Golf Club, where the 144 registered players shot 18 holes. Despite the heat wave and the risk of sunburn, the participants were able to enjoy the superb golf course and the charming company of their colleagues. The tropical-like day ended at the clubhouse where all participants socialized during the cocktail and buffet. Nobody left the event empty-handed as beginners and advanced golfers alike were awarded door prizes thanks to our wonderful sponsors. We would like to thank all our partners, especially ZSA Legal Recruitment and “The Personal” business insurance for having so generously sponsored this event.We would also like to thank the members of the golf tournament committee and all participants.
