Research and legislation
Objectives and Activities of the Committee :
- Follow all bills, regulations, directives and other legislative instruments of interest to the members of the Association;
- Analyse those legislative instruments, take public positions regarding same and, where appropriate, poll the members of the Association on their views with respect to specific bills;
- File written submissions or send position papers to the appropriate legislative bodies to comment on proposed legislation or suggest legislative reform;
- Provide counsel to the board of directors of the YBAM with respect to legislative issues;
- Collaborate with the public affairs committee on the organization of an annual conference;
CRL’s blog
The ''Blogue du Crl'' is a legal blog dedicated to the provision of legal content for all lawyers in the province, and more specifically the members of the Young Bar Association of Montréal. Every business day of the week, members of the Research and Legislation committee will post, on average, summaries of two recent decisions rendered by Québec Courts. Visit the blog regularly to be kept abreast of new and relevant legal developments.
Research and Legislation in brief
The Research and Legislation Committee will publish each month the “CRL en bref”, which summarizes new or proposed legislative enactments, as well as one important decision rendered by the Québec courts.
